Tornado watch issued

With the potential for severe thunderstorms this evening and into the overnight hours, the U.S. National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for parts of northern Michigan, including Chippewa County,

The watch is in effect until 1 a.m.

"Damaging wind gusts, large hail, and a tornado or two will will be possible with the strongest storms," the watch said. "The greatest threat for severe weather will be between 9 p.m. and 2 a.m. Dangerous heat is expected to continue into early this evening. Please see the latest heat advisory for additional details."
