The Chippewa County Community Foundation is excited to announce the hiring of Steven Habusta as the Executive Director (in training). Steve will be replacing Debbie Jones who will be retiring in the summer of 2023.

The CCCF Board wanted to ensure a smooth transition from one director to another. Hiring Steve now will give Debbie and Steve the opportunity to work together for a year. Steve will work part-time with the community foundation while also working at LSSU as the Director of Norris Center Operations.

Upon Debbie’s retirement, Steve will assume the full-time position as Executive Director of the Chippewa County Community Foundation.

Steve was born and raised in Toledo. OH. Steve came to Sault Ste. Marie in 1998 to attend Lake Superior State University. Steve graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management. He spent the last 20 years in the ministry serving as a youth pastor at the First Church of Christ and most recently as the pastor of the Sault Efree Church. Steve is married to Tiffany Habusta, and they have four children – Connor age 19, Steven age 16, Ayla age 12 and Mia age 3.

Steve has a heart and passion for making a positive difference in his community. He has years of experience working with youth and community development. Debbie is looking forward to passing on the torch to Steve as she prepares for retirement.
