A while back members of the Sault E-Free church contacted the Chippewa County Sheriff's Department about an idea they had.
"I was asked if we would allow Christmas gift bags for those in the Chippewa Co Correctional Facility," said Sheriff Mike Bitnar on the department's Facebook page.
"We discussed many thoughts and worked out what we would allow in the bags. With all that worked out I decided we could do this. Today many hands from the church put the bags together," Bitnar added.
This week, those Christmas bags were delivered by our Corrections staff. Roughly 115 bags were delivered.
"Just because you're in adult timeout doesn't mean you should be without a Christmas gift. Thank you Sault E-Free church," the sheriff said.
