CITY OF SAULT STE. MARIE

Effective at 8 a.m. on Monday, March 10, seasonal load and speed restrictions will be enforced on the Sault Ste. Marie streets until further notice.
This will apply to all city streets except for the following streets which are designated as all-season routes:
- West Easterday Avenue – From I-75 to West 12th Street.
- East Easterday Avenue – From Ashmun Street to East Spruce Street
- Ord Street – From East Spruce Street to Portage Avenue
- Three Mile Road – From M-129 to West 20th Street
Overloads will not be permitted during the period of seasonal load and speed restrictions. Please use Oxcart Permitting System and call the city engineering department with any questions at (906) 632-5732.
Transport Permit Fees
- A. Individual Oversize $30.00*
- B. Individual Oversize / Overweight $200.00
- C. Annual Oversize $100.00*
- D. Overweight During Frost Restrictions (One delivery) $400.00
- E. Local Overweight During Frost Restrictions (Seasonal) $600.00
- F. Administration / Investigation Fee for Transporting Overweight or Oversize without a permit $500.00 plus damages
*Plus costs incurred by the city for labor, equipment & materials as applicable.
