Original story: 3:45 p.m.
Sault Ste Marie Fire Department was called out just before 2:30 p.m. for reports of smoke in the robotics/engineering wing of the Center for Applied Science and Engineering Technology Building on the Lake Superior State University campus.
When firefighters arrived, smoke was observed.
Tower 58 was used to examine the roof of the building for any fire.
The building was evacuated with people required to stay on the south side of the Cisler Center due to the east winds blowing the fumes and smoke through the Cisler parking lot.
Classes in the Center for Applied Science and Engineering Technology Building are canceled for this evening.
We will have more information as it becomes available.
