One-of-a-kind Oldsmobile steals limelight at St. Ignace Car Show

The annual event drew thousands of car lovers

The 47th Annual St. Ignace Car Show wrapped up Sunday morning with its Award's Ceremony at Little Bear Arena.

The four day event started Thursday evening with a Cruise Night which was sponsored by Kewadin Casinos.

On Friday, the "Down Memory Lane" Parade took place at 7p.m.

But the big event was Saturday from 8a.m.-4p.m.  All of downtown St. Ignace, from Church Street to Marquette, was closed so all the vehicles could be displayed. Thousands of people took to State Street in the sunny and hot weather to check out all the cool rides.

At dusk, there were fireworks over Moran Bay.

One couple from Highland Charter Township near Detroit brought up their one of a kind, fully loaded, 1955 Old Starfire Convertible.  He bought the car in 2019.  It was ordered by the owner of a Los Angeles dealership in 1955. The owner drove it for 10 years then stayed in his showroom until Roberts bought it four years ago.

He has put around 4,000 miles on it in those four years.

"All that matters is that we have one and we are pretty certain that it is one of one," said owner Jeff Roberts.

Roberts started collecting cars 30 years ago.  His first classic car was a 1973 Dodge Challenger which he still owns.

He and his wife have participated in the St. Ignace Car Show for several years now.  They say it never disappoints.

"The city of St. Ignace does a great job.  I do not know anybody who puts together an event like this.  You have raw car lovers and the city really supports those people.  I know it has been a long history for them," added Roberts.

The event was organized by the St. Ignace Visitors Bureau.
