With the presidential election going to Donald J. Trump, locally there were several other races and issues on the ballot that people had the chance to vote on.

According to the Chippewa County Election Summary Report, here are the unofficial results for all races in the county as of 11 a.m. Nov. 6.

Voter turnout was around 65 per cent for the main polling station at the Student Activity Center at Lake Superior State University. This percentage is close to the two previous Presidential general elections.

Turnout at local township polling stations in Chippewa County ranged from 53 per cent to nearly 80 per cent.

Two high-profile items on the ballot include a bond proposal for Sault Area Public Schools and the races for 50th Circuit Court Judge.

The Sault Area Public Schools $43.6 million bond proposal was overwhelmingly defeated - NO: 5,904 YES: 3,376.

Superintendent Amy Scott-Knonemeyer posted on social media regarding the defeat:

"Dear Sault Community,

On behalf of the Sault Area Public Schools Board of Education, I wanted to take a moment to thank you all for voting in the recent bond proposal. Even though our efforts to construct a new elementary school did not pass, your participation means a lot. I want to assure students, parents, staff, and members of the community that despite this setback, we will continue to provide high-quality educational experiences for each student in our care. As always, our commitment is to our students and to ensure that Sault Area Public Schools remain a Great Place to Learn."

In the races for Judge of the 50th Circuit Court, current Judge, James P. Lambros, beat Attorney Jennifer J. France by a nearly 2:1 margin:  10,103 to 5,225.

France posted the following on social media after her defeat:

"I respect the voter's results. I wish my opponent good luck over the next six years. The France Firm is going to remain a staple in our community as a state-wide Criminal Defense Law Firm. We are excited for the next adventure to come!"
