The Chippewa Luce Mackinac Community Action Agency (CLMCAA) warmly invites all seniors to a delightful picnic on July 23 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Sherman Park in Sault Ste. Marie, MI. This special event, designed to provide a fun outing for seniors and their families, also aims to raise awareness about the upcoming millage for Senior Services on Aug. 6 and what its funding provides.
“We are excited to offer our local seniors a day of good food, live music, and community spirit,” said Toni Phillips, Director Senior Services at CLMCAA. “This picnic is also a great way to remind our senior citizens of the importance of their millage.”
The picnic will feature a delicious menu including brats on the grill, baked beans, pasta salad, fruit, and cookies. The cost is $3.00 for seniors and $6.00 for those under 60. Attendees will enjoy live music from the 12 Mile Band.
"When this opportunity came up, we were just thrilled. It's so nice to visit with everybody," said Shirley Patrick, a member of the 12 Mile Band. "We have singers and guitar players, and everyone takes their turn performing. It's a wonderful way to celebrate our seniors and make them happy.”
Additionally, Sault Ste. Marie Dial-A-Ride will be providing convenient transportation for seniors attending the event with Avery Square pickup at 10:30 a.m. and return at 2 p.m.
“This event is not only a celebration of our seniors but also a friendly reminder for them to exercise their right to vote on Aug. 6,” added Toni Phillips. “The Senior Services millage is vital for continuing the support and programs that benefit our senior community.” We encourage all seniors to join us and bring their families for a day of fun and fellowship.
