Traffic on the International Bridge was up overall in August, but commercial truck traffic saw a dip over the same period last year.
Monthly numbers released by the International Bridge Administration this morning show a 12.5 per cent increase in traffic in August compared to August 2023.
A total of 128,322 vehicles crossed the span connecting the twin Saults last month, an increase of 14,226 over last August.
Commuter fare vehicles saw the biggest increase with one-way crossings up nearly 20 per cent from last August.
A breakdown of one-way crossings follows:
- Full-fare passenger cars: 70,602 (up 11.2 percent)
- Commuter fare: 44.816 (up 19.3 per cent)
- Car pulling trailers: 7,357 (up 8.8 per cent)
- Commercial trucks: 5,547 (down 12 per cent)
Traffic for the year-to-date as of Aug. 31 was 740,085, an increase of 16.4 per cent over 2023.
