Ryan Dalsky, owner of Mark's Tire in Brimley, says business has been non-stop since the snow started falling Monday morning.
"It picked up Monday morning when people woke up to the snow it went absolutely crazy. We had eight people working each day with two behind the counter. We were in the area of 75 vehicles Monday and close to that on Tuesday. We probably could have done a few more but I did not want to pile on the guys," Dalsky said.
Some customers were swapping their all-season tire for snow tires. Some were buying new snow tires.
A good set of four snow tires runs from $600 to $1,000 depending on the vehicle.
While the initial investment might seem a little steep, the years of winter seasons that the extra protection the snow tires provide is worth it.
If you purchase an $800 set of snow tires, and use them for five months (Nov.-March) and have them for four years, that comes out to a cost $1.33 per day to have those winter tires on for the those months. That's about the price of a cup of coffee and a small price to pay in the long run for some added safety.
Many people are satisfied with all-season tires, or even the new all-weather tires, but you can't go wrong with a good snow tire.
"They have now come out with an 'all weather tire' so it's hard to really push the winter tires. But if you had winter tires, and try to get away from the winter tires, you don't. You stick with those winter tires," he explained.
