Fire destroys storage barn/contents for Paradise Halloween event

Organizers say the event will go on as planned and are appealing to the community for help with donations of cash and decorations

The 24th Annual Haunted Halloween Trail in Paradise will go on despite a fire Wednesday night wiping out the majority of the scary items and decorations.

The popular two-day event is Oct 13-14 from 7-10 p.m. at Sawmill Creek Park and draws in around 1,200 people.

The storage barn for many of the Halloween decorations, props and displays was destroyed. However, organizers say the event will go on as planned - with help from the community.

They are appealing to the community for donations of cash and decorations to help line the one-quarter-mile spooky trail. If you would like to donate money, it can be mailed to the Paradise Area Chamber of Commerce, PO Box 82, Paradise, MI 49768. If you have any decorations to help with their cause, they can be brought to Sawmill Creek Park this weekend at the Haunted Trail.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

All proceeds from the event go directly back to fund future Haunted Halloween Trails.

Around 60-100 volunteers help out in the two-day event
