NEWS RELEASE
MICHIGAN DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES
***********************
We are not blowing smoke.

Wildfires and smoke are all over the news, and if you’ve been outside this week, you’ve most likely whiffed that undeniable scent from the Canadian wildfires. As you sort through the haze, be aware that Michigan continues to experience extreme fire danger. In fact, the extreme fire danger has been getting national attention. Our fire danger conditions, coupled with the June 3 Wilderness Trail Fire, have been the talk of the town, nationally.

We’d like to invite you to be part of that conversation and prevention by equipping yourself with some street smarts ... well, wildfire smarts. Join us in practicing proper precautions and spread the word while you’re out enjoying Michigan’s abundance of natural resources.

It’s Friday afternoon, and we’re as excited as you are to switch gears and get outside.
