Everyone scream for ice cream for Sault Area Little League Program

'I think the community helps out any way they can.  I am really glad that we can help out with something fun for the kids,' says Alpine Chocolat Haus manager

The 5th Annual Sault Area Little League Program Ice Cream Fundraiser takes place Thursday, June 8th, at Alpine Chocolat Haus in Sault Ste. Marie.

The event runs from 10 a.m.-9 p.m.

Volunteers, including personnel from the Chippewa County Sheriff's Office, the Prosecuting Attorney's office, the Little League board, and more, will be scooping out the tasty treats.

Alpine Chocolat Haus owner, Bruce Brown, is excited once again to help out the little league program.

"We moved from downtown Sault Ste Marie to our current location on the corner of Ashmun and Easterday back in 2017 and we started the fundraiser in 2018.   Last year we sold around 3,000 cones or cups of ice cream and raised around $2,600.  All proceeds go to the program. We do not keep a dime of it," Brown said.

Leah Kabke, manager of the local Alpine Chocolat Haus, worked the fundraiser last year.

"It was a great turnout.  It went very well with all the cones and cups we sold," Kabke said.

"I think the community helps out any way they can. I am really glad that we can help out with something fun for the kids," added Kabke.

Between Kabke and Brown, there is some disagreement about which are the number two and number three most chosen flavors during this event.

It's a toss-up for second and third place between chocolate, cookie dough, and moose tracks.

However, the top-selling flavor has been, of course, Superman!

"The kids always love the ice cream that has a lot of color.  We are bringing back Playdough ice cream, too, so that should be a good seller, too," added Brown.

The cost of the ice cream cone or cup of ice cream costs 50 cents, however, any donation is appreciated.
