Easterday Avenue construction project continues

The project also includes construction of two roundabouts

Construction update on Easterday Avenue from Colton Kahrs, C2AE Civil Engineer:

The Easterday Avenue construction has progressed according to the project schedule with all underground sanitary sewer, storm sewer and water main installation complete from the Seymour Street intersection to Ashmun Street. Furthermore, a majority of the roadway reconstruction has been completed including the curb and gutter, concrete driveways, and gravel base.

Asphalt paving is in progress this week.

Several more items must be completed in the Easterday Avenue roadway before it is re-opened to traffic, including raising the manhole castings to the surface, sidewalk construction, and grass area restoration.

Construction work east of Seymour to Portage Avenue will start in the spring of 2024 to resurface the roadway and build new sidewalks and will be completed in the summer of 2024.

The project budget is running less than what was expected due to the fact that the City was able to maintain some of the underground water main and storm sewers that were originally anticipated to be replaced.

The residents along the Easterday Avenue project have appreciated the open communication from the contractor and engineer to keep them informed of construction operations during the project.

While the project has caused an inconvenience to residents to access their driveways, most residents have expressed how happy they are that the roadway and utilities will all be new with no additional cost to them.
