The latest Chippewa Luce Mackinac (CLM) Community Action Community Needs Assessment has been mailed and emailed out to residents in the three counties.
No need to fret if you have not yet received the survey. It can be found online to include various social media outlets.
“We send them out every three years,” said CLM Community Action Executive Director Joe Nolan. “We do it to gather the information necessary in determining what the community needs are.”
The surveys last went out in 2019 to receive 1,000 responses, something Nolan would like to see happen again this year.
“A number of people talked about transportation,” he said when looking back. “We took the dial ride system program we were running for the city and changed it.
From our feedback, we knew that people wanted more stops. They wanted to be able to hop on and hop off, versus calling for rides.
"We used to have old red striped buses, Nolan said. "We have revamped our whole system.”
CLM Community Action has a fleet of six buses running in Sault Ste. Marie and three more in St. Ignace to help accommodate community transportation needs.
The surveys will run throughout the summer, but Nolan hopes to get a handle on what needs should be addressed within the next month.
“It helps us in strategic planning,” Nolan said, ready to make and support positive changes.
The community needs assessment survey is anonymous, so no one ever has to know how you answered its questions.
“I expect a lot of housing needs,” Nolan said. “I am very curious to see the data.”
The CLM Community Action Agency Community Assessment Survey can be found on the CLM Community Action Community website, along with its Facebook page. It has since been shared through several social media pages and outlets.
