Downtown Sault Ste. Marie was filled with the aroma of grilled burgers and hot dogs on June 12, as MyMichigan Medical Center Sault and Central Savings Bank hosted the 13th Annual Burger Bash to raise money for the Road to Recovery program.
This morning, MyMichigan Health Foundation proudly received $8,548.04 from the Central Savings Bank Burger Bash in support of the Road to Recovery program. This volunteer-driven, initiative transports oncology patients from Sault Ste. Marie to Petoskey for specialized treatments. The Burger Bash is the largest annual fundraising event for the Road to Recovery Program, raising just shy of $90,000 to date.
“Donations are the livelihood of our program. It’s how we are able to get these vans on the road every day. It’s gas, bridge fare, tires on the vans, and brakes when they need it. It’s everything that the program needs to transport our patients to life-saving treatment,” said Tanya Overman, volunteer coordinator.
Andrea Masters, marketing director at Central Savings Bank, added, “This is a wonderful way for the community to support each other. It brings out many people to help those in need. The program relies on donations, and this is one way we can offer support to our friends and neighbors in our hometown and surrounding areas.”
