On Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at approximately 6:20 p.m., troopers from the Michigan State Police (MSP) Houghton Lake Post were dispatched to a report of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle on the I-75 Business Loop near Meadows Drive in Grayling.
Troopers arrived on scene and located the pedestrian, an 84-year-old Grayling man, unresponsive. Troopers rendered first aid until the arrival of additional emergency medical personnel who determined the man to be deceased. The initial investigation revealed a blue Hyundai Ion was being operated north on the I-75 Business Loop, in the right lane of travel. While approaching Meadows Drive, the 84-year-old Grayling man walked into the path of the moving vehicle from the west.
The driver of the Hyundai, a 73-year-old man from Kingsley, struck the pedestrian in the right lane of travel. The driver of the Hyundai was cooperative as the traffic crash continues to be investigated. Troopers were assisted on scene by the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office, Grayling Police Department and Grayling Fire Department.
