Lake City man arrested after threat with handgun

On Friday, Oct. 18, 2024, at approximately 7:15 p.m. a trooper from the Michigan State Police (MSP) Cadillac Post was called to a report of an alleged felonious assault with a handgun at a residence in Norwich Township. The victim and suspect both called 911 to report the incident.

The suspect, 31-year-old Travis Shaw Roberts from Lake City, was no longer at the scene and was calling from a remote location. Roberts and the victim gave two different accounts of what transpired. A witness corroborated the victim’s account of the incident and by stating Roberts pointed a handgun at the victim during the argument. The victim also had an injury consistent with the account given. Roberts was in possession of three handguns, including the one used in the assault, during his arrest. He was lodged in the Missaukee County Jail.

Roberts was arraigned in the 84th District Court in Missaukee County on one count assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, one count assault with a dangerous weapon, one count domestic violence, and one count possession firearm while under the influence. He was given a $25,000 10 per cent bond. His next scheduled court appearance is on Nov. 7, 2024, at 1:30 p.m.

The trooper was assisted by deputies from the Missaukee County Sheriff’s Office.
