Home 'uninhabitable' after Jeep hits Ashmun Street house

Emergency crews responded to the scene shortly before 12:30 p.m. today

Shortly before 12:30 p.m. today, police received a report of a vehicle hitting a home on Ashmun Street.

A northbound red Jeep had reportedly jumped the curb and hist the house located at 1103 Ashmun Street.

The driver was cited for reckless driving.

One person was inside the home at the time of the crash. No injuries were reported.

Police, fire, and EMS personnel attended the scene, which was cleared at1:20 p.m. DTE energy was also on-scene.

The City of Sault Ste. Marie building inspector was called to examine the damage. Fire chief Ed Miller told SooLeader said that the house is uninhabitable until it can be inspected for structural damage.
