Joseph Gerald Green, known affectionately as Joe, passed away on August 20, 2024, in St. Ignace, Michigan, at the age of 81. Born in Cheboygan, Michigan, Joe spent his early years engaged in ironworking before transitioning to a career in excavation, construction, and worked as a painter on the Mackinac Bridge. He eventually retired from his position as a prison guard, a role that capped a diverse professional life marked by dedication and resilience.

Joe was a beloved husband to his wife, Carmon, of twenty-four years, and a cherished father and grandfather. He is survived by his children, Joe and Tiffany Green, Brian and Linda Green, Kim and Dennis Murphy, Crystal and Mike McGrath; along with twelve grandchildren and fourteen great- grandchildren. Also, a special niece, Becky Crowder.

Joe was preceded in death by his mother, Grace King; father, Steven Green; stepfather, Mike King; three brothers, one sister, and son, William “Bill” Green.

Beyond his professional and family life, Joe was known for his vibrant personality and hobbies. He was a long-standing member of the Moose Lodge, where he held many positions, including a position as Governor, reflecting his commitment to community service. Joe had a passion for singing and yodeling, talents that brought joy and laughter to many around him. His love for restoring antique cars and old tractors was well-known among his friends and family, and he spent many happy hours working on these projects.

Joe’s life was one of active engagement, marked by his love for his dogs, Catsy, Coco, and Maggie, and a general zest for making those around him smile. His legacy is carried on, not just through his family, but also through the many lives he touched with his humor and kindness. He will be deeply missed by all who know him.
