SOO FILM FESTIVAL

The 2024 Soo Film Festival took place Sept. 11-15 at the historic Soo Theatre and Bayliss Public Library, a Superior District Library, in downtown Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. Festival attendees are asked to choose their favorites by ballot. By audience acclaim, those films are:

Marqueetown, directed by Joseph Beyer and Jordan Anderson

Documentary Short
Broca, directed by Poppi Fella-Pellegrino

Student Documentary Short
Hartwick, directed by Anthony Bateyeh, Ryan Homrocky, Luke Madorski, and Reece Wooten

Animation
Melanchromatic, directed by Alexis Alvarez

Narrative Short
Handle With Care, directed by Michael Glover Smith

Foreign Narrative Short
Shooting Watermelons, directed by Antonio Donato

Student Narrative Short
PROTEUS, directed by Tanner Hamilton

Music Video
This Is For You, directed by Michelle Nartey and Evelyn Apahidean

The next Soo Film Festival is Sept. 10-14, 2025.

The 2024 Soo Film Festival was supported by the Michigan Arts and Culture Council, and administered by the Eastern Upper Peninsula Planning Commission.
