It will be making limited runs until the Drummond Islander III shows up.

Find the full statement from the Eastern Upper Peninsula Transportion Authority (EUPTA) below:

The Sugar Island Ferry is currently experiencing mechanical issues. The Drummond Islander III is currently being mobilized up river to provide service.

As of 2:16p.m, the US Coast Guard has given EUPTA permission to make limited runs using the Sugar Islander II as a single crew vessel until the Drummond Islander III shows up. This means the crew will have to turn the boat around mid-river and back vehicles off. So please no trailers, no trucks or heavy equipment. Also please be prepared to back off both sides mainland and island. This is allowing us to keep traffic moving.
