A longtime local firefighter is being mourned tonight.
Jason Carstens, a married father of two, was a lieutenant/paramedic with the City of Sault Sainte Marie Fire Department.
The fire department posted the following message on its Facebook page:
"The City of Sault Sainte Marie Fire Department is extremely saddened to announce the sudden loss of Lieutenant/Paramedic Jason Carstens.
"Jason has selflessly dedicated himself through 23 years of service to the City, and in addition to serving our community as a firefighter and Paramedic, Jason furthered his service through Fire Investigations and public education.
"Jason leaves behind his wife and two daughters.
"Jason will be greatly missed from all of us at Sault Fire, and the entire community.
"Funeral arrangements will be posted upon their planning."
