Freighter aground in south end of Rock Cut near Barbeau

The Capt. Henry Jackman lost power around 4p.m.

A freighter is reportedly aground near the south end of the Rock Cut.

According to Roger LeLievre, author of Know Your Ships, at around 4 p.m. Saturday, the downbound Captain Henry Jackman reported a power blackout just below the Rock Cut off Conley Point (south of Barbeau).

LeLievre said she is aground with her port anchor out awaiting word from the company about what to do next.

The downbound Solina quickly ducked into the Nine Mile anchorage with the Federal Katsura tied up at the lower Poe Lock pier and Burns Harbor tied up on the west-center pier.

Due to heavy fog, the river was closed to traffic around 5 p.m. from Mud Lake up to the locks.

The upbound CSL Laurentien is anchored above DeTour with James R. Barker headed for the same anchorage.

Around 6:30 p.m., the tug, Anglian Lady, was dispatched to the Jackman.
