One pet is dead following a structure fire in Soo Township Saturday morning.
The call came around 9 a.m. for smoke billowing out from the porch of a three-story house located on Zimmerman Road, just south of 3 Mile Road.
Soo Township Volunteer Fire Dept. was dispatched first, with Dafter Township Volunteer Fire Dept, Sugar Island Volunteer Fire Dept. and Bruce Township Volunteer Fire Dept. all providing mutual aid, tankers and manpower, according to broadcasify.com traffic.
Soo Township Volunteer Fire Dept. Chief Jeff Killips says one cat died in the fire while a second cat was able to be saved from the home.
The house sustained substantial smoke and water damage.
Killips said the cause of the fire is undetermined.
Firefighters cleared the scene around 11:30 a.m.
