State law requires that all dogs be licensed annually. Individual dog licenses can be purchased at a cost of $10.00 for spayed and neutered or $25.00 for those that not spayed or neutered through Tuesday, February 28. Those fees double to $20.00 and $50.00, on March 1.

Three-Year License Available:

The County offers a three-year license too; if your pets rabies vaccination runs through 2026, you are eligible this year; you will need to want until your rabies and licenses match up; for the three-year option. Go to www.chippewacountymi.gov to print off the renewal.

Why license your dog?

It is the law. (1) Michigan law states that all dogs over 4 months of age must be licensed. It shows that you care about your dog. To purchase a dog license your dog
must have a current rabies vaccination. Rabies is a deadly disease caused by a virus that can infect all warm-blooded animals including humans. (2) To get your pet home safely; we provide a list to Central Dispatch to help callers and the local police agencies help get your pet home.
