Pandemic in rearview mirror, bridge traffic starting to climb

In the 12 months leading up to June 30, crossings on the International Bridge are up nearly 20 per cent from the same period the year before

Bridge traffic for the month of June saw an increase of over 11 per cent in 2024 over the same period in 2023.

A total of 102,569 crossings were made last month, which is 10,364 more than June 2023 — a difference of 11.2 per cent.

Year-to-date on June 30, the International Bridge saw 490,736 crossings, an increase of 19.3 per cent from the year before.

A breakdown of the June numbers by vehicle type follows:

  • Full-fare passenger cars: 51,343 (up 9,6 per cent over June 2023)
  • Commuter fare: 40,046 (up 19.1 per cent)
  • Car pulling trailers: 5.571 (up 4.6 per cent)
  • Commercial trucks: 5,609 (down 12.4 per cent)
