Dan Scheffer, M.S.P.T., M.T.C., has been named system vice president of facilities and construction, MyMichigan Health, effective Aug. 1, 2024.

Scheffer currently serves as vice president of operations for Ascension St. Mary’s, Ascension St. Joseph and Ascension Standish hospitals. He has the responsibility of overseeing rehabilitation, facilities, construction, capital planning, neurodiagnostics, sleep lab, clinical engineering, environmental services and food and nutritional services. He earned a Master of Physical Therapy from Grand Valley State University and has worked for Ascension for 24 years.

“Dan has a proven track record in facilities management with his years of leadership with Ascension,” said Bryan Cross, Pharm.D., chief operating officer, MyMichigan Health. “His expertise will be a tremendous asset to our facility and leadership teams, our communities, and most importantly, our patients.”

Scheffer’s experiences in direct patient care and close work with mentors to learn all aspects of health care organization and delivery will inform his new position. He has served as co-incident commander during the Ascension cyberattack that occurred this May, as well as sat on incident command teams during the COVID-19 pandemic and the Edenville Dam break and flooding in 2020. He also is a board member for the Saginaw Chamber of Commerce, the Great Lakes Bay Regional Alliance and the Michigan Health Improvement Alliance.

“I am really looking forward to being part of the MyMichigan Health system and the opportunities it will afford the communities and team members in Saginaw, Standish, Tawas, and all of Michigan,” said Scheffer. “Everyone at MyMichigan has been so welcoming and kind. I am excited by MyMichigan’s positive culture and dedication to growing and improving facilities in order to best provide excellent patient care.”

When not at work, Scheffer enjoys traveling with his wife, Anna, whom he met in physical therapy graduate school at GVSU before they moved to Midland in 1999. When possible, they include their children Allison and Andrew, who are busy college students, in their travel plans. Scheffer is an active, long distance cyclist and is passionate about raising funds for Multiple Sclerosis (MS) research. He and four friends participate in the Bike MS 200-mile Michigan ride every year. Over the past 10 years, his five-man team has raised over $260,000 for MS research.
