SooLeader received the following letter to the editor from Paul Warrick who encourages readers to review the state-wide healthcare bill, MICare House Bill 4893:
In the Michigan legislature there is a statewide healthcare bill called MICare House Bill 4893. It is worth looking into.
We overpay for medical care throughout the U.S. including Michigan. Federal and state governments, businesses, and individuals all pay into the massive pool of money that covers healthcare costs but that pool is divided into hundreds of smaller subpools controlled by for-profit insurance companies or middlemen. The resulting waste in overhead is so great that the U.S. spends roughly twice as much per person for healthcare than 32 other advanced countries that cover everybody (we don’t) and enjoy better health outcomes than the U.S.
Having one fund nationally would work best but we all know how laggard Congress is in getting things done.
Let’s start the ball rolling by implementing one healthcare fund in Michigan. MICare! Let’s do it!
